70s Style & Design
Written by Dominic Lutyens and Kirsty Hislop, and Published by Thames and Hudson, “70s Style & Design” is a 224 page book with over 400 illustrations. The authors have gone beyond the usual discussion of flares and platform shoes to address the design aesthetic of the decade as a whole. Architecture and design collectives of the time, including UK-based Archigram and the avant-garde Italian group Studio Alchimia, are also recognized as important contributors to the look and style of the decade.
It covers fashion, interiors, art and architecture within the cultural context of the time and identifies four key themes through which they interrelated, which comprise the chapters of the book: From Pop to Postmodernism; Belle Epoque; Supernature and Avant-garde.
